MISSION STATEMENT

'PRINCES SHALL COME OUT OF EGYPT. ETHIOPIA SHALL STRETCH FORTH HER HANDS UNTO GOD"-Psalm 68:31

This is certainly a wonderful and historic moment....For so long have we waited for this moment. A promise was made. A promise was kept. Prophesy is indeed being fulfilled. The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church has finally come to the Africans in the Diasphora and the Indiginous People (the Indians) of Nicaragua. The Indiginous People arrived in Nicaragua from Africa and Asia, over 2,000 years ago. The Africans in the Diasphora escaped to land, from ships during the Slave Period. Since that time, these People have always looked toward the Empire of Ethiopia with much love, and much pride. Now the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church has finally come to Nicaragua to reclaim her beloved children. A promise was made. A promise was kept. We have established the St Tekle Haimanot Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Mission in Nicaragua, under the authority of His Eminence Abune Yesehaq, the Archbishop of the Ethioian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in the Western Hemisphere and Southern Africa. Thomas Nephatali is the Interim Religious Leader, and Director of the Society of Social Services. He is a young man, who has been given a great deal of responsibility. The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Mission eagerly looks forward to working along with other Christian Churches in Nicaragua. We all have a great task before us. "The harvest is great, but the workers are few." Let us never forget the Parable of the Sheep and the Goats:

1. When I was hungry, you gave me food.

2. When I was thirsty, yo gave me water.

3. When I was homeless, you gave me shelter.

4. When I was sick, you nursed me.

5. When I was in prison, you visited me.

So our mission is to be Christ"s Sheep, and not His Goats. Just as St Tekle Haimanot was able to unite the Ethiopian Empire under the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. And just as St Anthony the Great sold all of his wealth and gave it to the poor. The St Tekle Haimanot Ethiopian Orthodox Mission will humbly follow these great examples by initiating the following projects in Nicaragua:

1. Building a Cathedral

2. Building a Monastery

3. Building Hospitals

4. Building Medical Clinics

5. Building Dental Clinics

6. Building Colleges and Universities

7. Building Homeless Shelters

8. Building Computer Schools

9. Building Mission Homes for Priests in Need

In Nicaragua, there are several ethnic groups:

1. the Misquitos

2. the Black Creoles

3. the Garifunas

4. the Mestizos

5. the Sumas

6. the Ramas

It is our sincere intention to minister to the needs of all of these ethnic groups.
